Windows Server – Disk Expansion

Step 1. Connect to the server

Connect to the server using RDP or HTML Console.

Step 2. Open Disk Management

  • Press Win + R
  • Enter diskmgmt.msc
  • Press Enter

Step 3. Check the available space

Make sure there is Unallocated space at the end of the disk.
If there is no unallocated space, the virtual disk may not have been expanded yet, or a disk rescan may be required.

Step 4. Extend the partition

  • Right-click the partition you want to expand (usually C:)
  • Select Extend Volume...
  • Select the available Unallocated space
  • Click Next, then Finish

Step 5. Verify the result

Open This PC or Disk Management again and make sure the new disk capacity has been successfully applied
